Our World Revisited: A Path Called Following Your Dreams

Dreams! How special and rare they seem to be these days when all that we think and feel comes from the society we live in, the media, and our culture. Dreams imply the want for something greater than we can imagine, bigger than the norm and what we are capable of doing on a regular basis. They carry us to a place where anything is possible and is the home of the unimaginable. A dream is always the beginning...the awakening. However, we live in a dream-killer society. The everyday pressures and woes of our world choke out our dreams like weeds choke out a lovely garden full of orchids. Though it is rare that we will run across anyone who has the audacity to confront us about our dreams, often it is just the existence of pain and hurt around us that keep us from taking flight. Its called "the real world". In my opinion, this should be called slumber, for we are kept from awakening to our true potential. Dreaming has become a lost art, and many times viewed as a distraction because with all that we take on in life, our daily tasks and challenges just don't make room for dreaming about what could be, or what we want to happen in our lives. This is where we must fight for it! The path called following your dreams is one that requires you to fight in faith, believe, and be consistent. Dreaming is the awakening from the slumber of reality.
It may seem like hard work, and sometimes it may even seem worthless. Fighting to keep the faith, to keep your dreams and stay on the paths they bring is not an easy task but a worthwhile one. No matter how you feel inside and no matter what people tell you, your dreams matter and if you fight hard for your right to do so, your dreams will come true! That is no cliche and definitely not a fairytale! Dreams do come true and giving up on them means surrendering to slumber and resorting to the reality around you, helplessly going along with the beliefs of society because you feel you can't do anything to change them. Fighting to keep hold of your dreams may seem hard at times because it requires sacrifice. Many things you once believed will be called into question and must be thrown out with all other doubt and unbelief. Sometimes this can even mean the people we know who do not believe in you and who do not encourage your faith but bring you nothing but worries and reasons. Sacrifice could also mean making choices now that would lead you closer to your dreams. The path called following your dreams will be crowded sometimes and lonely at others. You will pass many situations and circumstances on your way. This is why you must fight to be strong, to take courage, to sacrifice. Its worth it in the end!
It is easy to believe in yourself when everyone is rooting for you, when you have a support system and the people who matter most to you in life believe you can do anything you try...but what about when you don't? What about the times when you feel there is no one who believes in you, the times where you don't even believe in yourself? These times are scattered here and there on the path called following your dreams because believing is key! Here's a tip; Believe in you unconditionally. Whether you win or lose, whether you're appreciated or under appreciated, liked or disliked, recognized or unrecognized, keep believing! Remind yourself of only the things that qualify you as being a winner, not those things that disqualify you. Constantly believe that your dreams are within your reach and they will be! Its a proven fact! Another tactic to help you believe is to do your best at everything. Always put forth 100% effort in everything you try because this helps you to believe that you will achieve what you are working so hard for. It is important to believe. It is the boat that carries you to your dream.
Stick to it! If you believe in yourself today, believe in yourself tomorrow. Become consistent because success is not about being strong or swift. Success is achieved when effort is put forth consistently. The path way to your dreams may be short or long. It may have twists and turns, dips and pits...it may not be as you think it should be or how it appears to be for others. This is where consistency comes into play. One way to be consistent is organization and planning, scheduling, and preparation because those who fail to plan, plan to fail! Keep doing what you know to do and stick the race out til the end. You have been given a dream for a purpose and you are truly fortunate! Life to you has become a place of limitless possibilities so cherish it. Dream on!
